I know this work because I have led it.

I'm Dr. Gena Koster, an education executive whose career began in the special education classroom. That work taught me to pay close attention to individual student needs, strengthen instruction, and build systems that help educators respond when students need more support.

For more than 25 years, I have carried that commitment into district leadership roles across Oklahoma and Texas, serving public school systems ranging from approximately 25,000 to more than 150,000 students. Special education, intervention, and MTSS have stayed at the center of my work as my responsibilities expanded across teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment, professional learning, organizational improvement, funding, stakeholder engagement, and education technology implementation.

That range of experience helps me see how specialized services connect to the larger district system. I understand the requirements of the work, the realities educators and leaders face, and the conditions needed to deliver strong, consistent support to students.
